JST
Services has developed a totally unique system
of transporting mobile port handling equipment to any
destination in the UK and Ireland.
The objective of the system is to supply a handling service
to ports/depots that either don’t have any handling
equipment or to supplement existing equipment that may
not be adequate for the task.
The original concept of this transport system was pioneered
by John Scott, owner of JST Services.
Through partnerships with machine and trailer manufacturers;
the first machine was completed and became operational
in 2004. The results achieved were outstanding, resulting
in further machines being added to the fleet which now
totals 12 ranging from 25 to 60 tons.
The system allows JST Services to be
at any port in the UK and Ireland within hours of a call,
with loading or unloading commencing within an hour of
arrival.
- The mobile machines can handle almost any coaster
size ship and on bigger ships the machines will work
in holds of up to an 11-metre depth and an 18-metre
beam with combing heights from the quay of up to 5 metres.
- All machines are fitted with hydraulically raised
cabs to give a 7.5-metre eye-level. Digital cameras
are fitted on the end of the machine boom. Both of these
give the operator optimum visibility into the ships
holds.
- All mobile machines are double-manned, enabling a
24 hr operation.
- All mobile machines are capable of a dead lift of
7 Tonnes.
The
machines used in JST Services mobile
operations come fully equipped with a wide range of attachments,
which are on a “quick hitch” system.
The attachments can be swapped in minutes. Examples of
cargoes handled by these machines are: -
- Round Timber
- Bio-Mass Pellets
- Baled Paper Pulp
- Coal
- Wood Chips
- Scrap Metal
- Fertiliser
- Wheat
